In 1974, Stephen Allen, the company's founder, had a meeting with the manager of a Farmers Weekly farm at Easton Lodge, Wittering. The conversation was about the FW justifying the purchase of a new combine harvester. The gap between cereal and machinery prices had grown so fast the manager stated, that farms the size of his could no longer justify the purchase of new combines.
Stephen Allen saw the need for hire, and as a result of that meeting Agricultural Plant Hire Ltd was formed. 20 years on from there, APH has become the UK's leading specialist in combine harvesters.
Our engineering department has a modern fully equipped workshop, staffed by qualified engineers who are specialists in combine harvesters and other agricultural machinery.

- We can fully overhaul your machine, either on farm or back on our premises
- We can just give your machine a routine service if you prefer

- All machines brought back to our yard are thoroughly blown out, washed and then given a full valet.
- We always give you a detailed appraisal before any work is carried out.
- We also recondition engines (Ford, Fiat, Mercedes. etc.), also any gearbox can be rebuilt by us.
